Why would a check engine light come on with a 2006 hyundai elantra?

I bought a used 2006 hyundai elantra and realized it didn’t come with an owners manual. Does anyone have any insights onto why the check engine light would come on with this particular model and year?

The light would come on because there is a problem. Go to autozone and get the code read.

I bought a used Elantra in West Virginia last year and saved a lot. I haven’t had any problems yet. I’ll never buy a new car.
