How well does the Hyundai Elantra’s ipod connectivity work with older model ipods?

I recently purchased a 2009 Hyundai Elantra and i would like to use it with my ipod. I know that you can go out and buy the cord from Hyundai to connect the ipod to the audio system directly but i have questions about the compatibility of that cable with an old dock connecter ipod (2003).

Does anyone have any experience using an older ipod with the Hyundai connecter?

      The older accessories.
The ipod doc connector you can buy the newer ipods are the ones that plugs into lighter socket this should work the ones that are the older accessories.
