carazoo.com asked:

The investment on small car market in the compact car section in India is boosting, Hyundai Motor, the Korean car maker has ascended the total investments of Rs 7,000 crore for its operation in India. The II-phase of the investment is expected to be Rs 4,000 crore for its second car plant at Irungattukottai, Chennai. This unit will help the company to double its production volume to 6 lakh cars per year and also to strengthen its Indian operations globally as a manufacturing hub for its small cars.
The second facility, which is located near to the first plant, was inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi. Hyundai Motor Company Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Mong-Koo Chung and R C Panda, secretary, Union Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises were also the part of the inauguration. The company has recorded a great growth of production of cars from 1.3 lakh cars a year in 1998 to 6 lakh cars a year in 2008. The phase-II expansion will also see Hyundai’s vendors investing of about Rs 2,500 crore for its expansion.
Hyundai motors had invested about Rs.28 billion and vendors invested around Rs.8 billion in the I-phase. Of the total investment of Rs 7,000 crore for both the phases and the second plant will be concentrating on the new offerings of i10 initially both for domestic and export markets and is expected to roll out 5.3 lakh cars for the year 2008. Out of which, 40-50 % of the output will be exported.
At present they have set up in 73 countries but are expecting to widen their market to 90 countries by 2008 end. Looking at the sales report of 2007, we will see that Hyundai sold 327,160 vehicles which is 9.2% hike over 2006. Whereas the domestic market sales went high by 7.6% at 200,412 units and 11.8% raise in the exports sales. Over the past five years the Indian car sales for the passenger cars have rose to 15%.
Hyundai is also planning a low-cost drive for India by rolling out its ‘Public car’ by 2011. A competitor for the Nano, it will be also priced around one lakh.

Benjamin

Anthony Fontanelle asked:

Put your hands together for the 2008 Hyundai Veracruz.

Yes, this new vehicle model which just hit the automotive industry last year has been given an accolade by automotive industry expert Kelley Blue Book. The group had given the 2008 Hyundai Veracruz a spot in its Best New Family Vehicles list.

Choosing the vehicles that would be part of the list was no easy task, the editors of KBB had disclosed through The Auto Channel. They had to go through quite a list of vehicles which were exemplary and had the features that could bring them straight right up the list. However, the editors still had to choose vehicles based on criteria. Is the vehicle safe? Does it have enough space inside? Is it priced too much? How about its resale value? How good is its fuel efficiency? What is the vehicle capable of doing? Would it be dangerous for children? These are the criteria that the editors worked with to find the best vehicles to make the list.

KBB’s executive editorial director as well as executive market analyst Jack R. Nerad shared his thoughts about the Hyundai Veracruz: “If you’re intrigued by the idea of treating your family to premium accommodations at mass-market prices, you’ll want to check out the seven-passenger Veracruz mid-size crossover. The quiet, comfortable, well-appointed Veracruz starts just under $28,000, offers a long list of desirable options and is backed by a reassuringly comprehensive warranty that includes 100,000-mile powertrain coverage and five-year, 24-hour roadside assistance.”

The 2008 Hyundai Veracruz is a midsized crossover sport utility vehicle which is currently being sold in quite a few car markets. It has the capacity to take in seven passengers comfortably and for 2008, it now comes with a new navigation system manufactured by LG. The vehicle has been made to be friendly to users and to other automotive products available in the market so much so that you can use a keeper zipnet series cargo net with it. You also do get an AM/FM/XM Satellite radio and a CD/MP3 audio player with the vehicle to accompany you during long drives.

As per safety, the vehicle is equipped with the Electronic Stability Control and has six air bags that come with side air curtains. All three rows of seats have these airbags and side curtains so much so that in cases of untoward incidents everybody’s protected well.

carazoo.com asked:

Hyundai motors do not seem to be very much affected with their export dreams for India with the appreciation of the rupee. With the launch of i10, the car maker is expecting its export growth going high to 1.20 lakh units compared to 1.15 lakh in 2006.

Recently launched i10 has already won many hearts increasing their sales figure too. This sporty looking car carries an affordable price tag. The LPG version for Santro will be also launched by this year giving them another good reason to hike their sales. The company saw a fall in their sales due to shortage in the manufacturing volume for a year and half in the past but now they are slowly recovering with their new launches.

Hyundai’s Chennai plant will be concentrating on the small cars segment like Getz and Santro. And with the operation of the second plant this year, the export will be double for Getz and Santro cars to European and other markets such as South Africa and South America from 2008. Beside their domestic market the company is also concentrating exporting advanced version of Santro cars to Europe, West Asia and African markets.

Hyundai Elantra is also expected a new avatar by replacing it with ‘Avante’ that will be rolling out by mid 2008. Elantra was stopped commercially, as had always been struggling to find its place amidst its peers that have been posting impressive sales in India. But to be on the stands of Honda Civic, Chevrolet Optra, Skoda Octavia and Toyota Corolla in D-segment, the new avatar of Elantra r would be priced between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 12 lakh.

Hyundai Motor’s maps India is its plan of becoming small car specialist and India would take the major share of it. They expect production in India to account for 30 per cent of overseas production by 2009.

Zeke Gervis asked:

Hyundai has released its H-1 Starex as the brand’s all-new business van.

Available as commercial (cargo) and passenger cars, it has the 2.5 Common Rail Diesel injected A engine (4D56). It offers a Euro-IV compliant engine and turbocharged inter-cooled engine, and a 2.4-liter Theta engine that delivers 175ps and 23.2kg.m of torque while giving 9.4km per liter of fuel. This power plant option engine can drive the new H-1 to a 185km/h speed as the maximum and has a fuel economy rating of 7.0 km per liter. It comes with a five-speed manual gearbox or the optional four-speed automatic. This option depends on the local market requirements.

The new H-1 gets the A 2.5 CRDi, a Euro-IV compliant engine which with the help of a Variable Geometry Turbocharger yields 170ps and 40kg m of torque. However, this is true to the EU and Korean markets only.

The 2.4-liter Theta engine is a new offering for markets requiring gasoline propulsion.

At the 2007 Seoul Motor Show, Hyundai first released this van with impressive lines, and more space that contributes to further comfort and convenience.

Project codenamed as TQ, the van is available in several seating layouts. The passenger car can accommodate 8, 9, 11 or 12 passengers while the commercial van can accommodate 2, 3, 5, or 6.

Included in the major new exterior features are the addition of dual sliding side doors, twin swing rear doors (for commercial van only), enlarged wheels and tires (205/70R15 -> 215/70R16), back-up warning system (for passenger van only) and a sliding side window (for wagon only).

Digging into its interior, you will find improved mounting of the transmission gear shift lever to the center fascia to avoid distraction of movement between the driver seat and front passenger seat. You will also see an overhead storage console, an added feature. The new Hyundai H-1 also has an electro-chromic rear view mirror and new roof-mounted air vents for further cooling and heating throughout the cabin.

This new Hyundai vehicle comes with 16-inch front disc brakes. These yield better braking power than the previous H-1 discs. A MacPherson strut front suspension is added to further experience better handling conditions.

The new H-1 diesel version will start under production in August 2007. The petrol version will be under production after November 2007. When these vehicles enter production in August, Hyundai projects 115,000 sales of units annually with the Korean market accounting for 65,500 vans of the total.

About Hyundai Motor Company

A division of the Hyundai Kia Automotive Group, Hyundai Motor Company is South Korea’s largest and sixth largest automaker in the world. Its headquarters is located in Seoul, South Korea. In Ulsan, South Korea Hyundai is the largest integrated automobile manufacturing facility in the world and had the capacity to produce 1.6 million units per year.

Maker of quality Hyundai oxygen sensor, the company has a slanted, stylized ‘H’ symbol implying two people (the company and customer) shaking hands.

Consumer Reports, one of the most trusted sources of information and advice on consumer products and services including the automotive industry has released their test results for SUV models. The complete test report will be published in the May issue of Consumer Reports that is now available in news stands. In addition, the May issue will also feature the complete updates of previously tested minivans and other small sport utility vehicle (SUV) models.

Among the 20 popular small SUVs sold in international markets today that has been tested by Consumer Reports staff, the newly redesigned Hyundai Santa Fe obtained a “Very Good” overall rating in terms of consumer value.

Other small SUVs tested by Consumer Reports include the Subaru Forester, Mitsubishi Outlander, Suzuki XL7, and Dodge Nitro.
