A scheduled maint. such as a timing belt is not a defect as long as it didn't break ahead of its scheduled replacement and still in you warranty period. Just usual maintenance. I bought another new accent in 2004 and same thing not one problem yet. We bought a new Elantra in 2006 as well and we've only had to get new brake pads and new wipers since we bought it 2 years ago. We drive our cars every day to work and on the occasional road trip. So I'm definitely a satisfied customer. I've heard a lot of bad stories about Saturns and Fords though from friends.
