Can I paint or replace the side molding on my 2006 Hyundai Elantra Hatchback?

I bought a 2006 Hyundai Elantra Hatchback. I love the car, however I hate the black rubber side molding that’s meant to protect the doors. Is it possible to paint the molding the color of the car or replace the rubber molding with fiberglass molding that could be painted to match the car?

I really just hate those black lines going down the side of my white car.

If they are “textured” moldings they can be painted BUT they will peel over time due to the texture. If they are smooth moldings they can be painted by a collision repair facility but it can cost as much as $40.00 - $50.00 per molding. They must be removed from the vehicle, cleaned, prepped, based and cleared, then the tape that holds them on must be cleaned off and new double sided tape applied. A lot depends on the area you live and the labor rates.

If you want it done right so they will match the color or your vehicle and not peel you will need to take it to a repair facility and get it done. If you use spray paint they will not match and they WILL peel and look worse than straight black as they are now.

      Hope this helps.
