Ryan G asked:

Alright, serious answers please. Does anybody make car emblems that are HUGE? For example, instead of the typical 1 x 2 inch hyundai symbol, where, if at all, do they make emblems that may be roughly 6 inches wide by 4 inches tall?

Hyundai Verna

February 5th, 2010
Hyundai
cardekho asked:

Its not long time Hyundai Verna been introduced in India. The car has seen immense success soon after its launch. The Hyundai Verna launched in September 2006 has been a successful car model in the mid-sized sedan segment. The car has proved its dominance in the Indian market luring car buyers with its winning attributes that offer a commendable symphony of elegant styling, comfortable interiors, outstanding performance, impressive fuel efficiency, time-tested quality, and high degree of reliability.

The distinctive character of the car is the automatic transmission in the top-end diesel variant that makes it the first diesel automatic car in the segment. With striking adornments and introduction of automatic transmission in the diesel variant, the new Verna is set to create a new benchmark in the car industry. It is expected to compete with leading sedans like the Ford Fiesta, Honda City, and the Skoda Octavia.

After rejoicing the success of Verna for a couple of years, Hyundai Motors has launched the new variants of the car with design improvements and few modifications. However, it retains the winning and powerful engine technologies and other mechanicals.

The 2009 Hyundai Verna commits to deliver unmatched power and outstanding performance with its refined and powerful engine technologies. Equipped with a choice of both petrol and diesel engine, it is available in two petrol variants and three diesel variants.

The three diesel variants VGT, VGT SX, and VGT SX A/T are equipped with a real performer 1.5-litre diesel engine that is mated to Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT). The VGT is an energy-efficient technology that is designed to deliver high power output and enhanced performance. Although, the engine lacks on the initial power but once it takes off at higher rpm with 109 bhp, there is nothing that can stop the engine. The car delivers quieter and smoother ride quality with good fuel-efficiency.

The two petrol variants VTVT and SX VTVT are driven by a powerful 1.6-litre engine associated with variable timing valve train technology (VTVT). This high-performance engine churns out 110 bhp and helps save fuel at low rpm and becomes highly responsive at high rpm. The VTVT technology is designed to improve fuel efficiency of the car and provide optimized performance over a variety of driving conditions.

Both the petrol and diesel variants are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and refined suspension system that makes the car perfect for Indian roads. However, the top-end diesel variant is available with an option of 4-speed automatic transmission. The McPherson strut suspension paired with coil springs and anti roll bars help improve performance, drivability, and handling. The rear suspension bears a couple torsion beam axle that offers greater stability and improved traction. In addition, the power assisted rack and pinion steering adds more joy and thrill to the driving experience.

Hyundai cars are created with stylish designs and hold a strong aesthetic integrity that often catches admiring glances and envious stares. The same story is repeated with the 2009 Verna. With simple yet elegant design cues and adornments, the new car marks a strong presence on India roads.

The car comes with some fabulous features to be proud of . It is hoped that the car would soon make its way to success in Indian market. Although it faces stiff competition with other players in the market.

Hyundai i10 – The most favourite car

January 25th, 2010
Hyundai
cardekho asked:

There can be no success story as famous as of the Hyundai i10. In a short period of time the car has become the most favourite choice of everyone. Hyundai Motor India Limited launched i10 under the PA code name in November 2007. Taking advantage of the demand for more small cars in the Indian auto industry, Hyundai rolled out i10 with a powerful engine and an upscale interior. The i10 car fitted with new Kappa engine was released in July 2008. It is one of India’s most popular ‘A’ segment small car. It is built to take on sub-compact segment cars such as the Chevrolet Spark, Maruti Suzuki Zen Estilo, Maruti Suzuki WagonR, and Tata Indica Xeta.

The well-equipped i10 is an affordable small car and a perfect combination of superior technology, roomy interiors, and the stamp of reliability. It was the most talked about car in small car segment before its launch and it is sure to gain the confidence of car enthusiasts with its aerodynamic design, array of standard convenience and comfort features, and luxurious fittings. It comes with all elements that would please a buyer looking for a small family car at an affordable price.

It is available in 4 variants: D-lite, Era, Magna, and Magna O. All these variants come with a 1.1-liter engine and are available in a wide range of colours. Magna O is a top-end variant. It comes with safety features like an anti-lock braking system (ABS) and airbags. It also comes with an optional sunroof with slide and tilt feature. The 1.2L 16V DOHC Kappa engine is available in three trims - Magna, Asta, Sportz. The top end Sports will feature a sunroof, red pack interiors and a body kit. The Kappa will accelerate from 0-100 in 12.8 seconds and can reach a top speed of 165 kmph. The Kappa engine is Euro V ready and has the lowest emission levels in its class.

Under the hood, the i10 boasts of a 1.1-litre Inline-four Intelligent Responsive Drive Engine (iRDE) that churns out 66 bhp at 5,500 revs and 99 Nm of torque at 2800 rpm. The new 1.2L 16V DOHC Kappa engine delivers 79 bhp at 5200 rpm and 114 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. The all aluminum Kappa engine, the first in its class, delivers an all time low NVH levels (noise vibration and harshness) with low emission output. Hyundai’s intelligent responsive technology strengthens and powers the engine to improve performance and mileage. The 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive that comes standard across all variants is quick and responsive. However, a 4-speed automatic is also available on the i10 powered by Kappa engine. It is designed with ventilated discs in the front and self-adjusting drums in the rear.

The i10 is lively and handles well with its short wheelbase and turning radius that makes it ideal for swift maneuvers. The car shows minor body lean while cornering, so that is something to watch out for. The new i10 sports top class McPherson Strut suspension in the front and CTBA with coil springs in the rear that best suit Indian road conditions. It rolls on steel wheels with tubeless tyres to increase the level grip and comfort while negotiating slippery surfaces.

It can be summarized that inspite of many new entrants in the car market, the Hyundai i10 remains the favourite of those who want quality car at affordable price.

How Ritzy Maruti Ritz and Hyundai i10 compete

January 21st, 2010
Hyundai
Carazoo.com asked:

When Maruti Suzuki launched the premium hatchback Ritz in May this year it made a huge splash in Hyundai plans. The Maruti officials openly claimed that Ritz will eat into the market share of Hyundai i10 at the base and the high end Hyundai i20. They also claimed that Mariti Ritz was better than Hyundai i10 in many ways and hence was a better buy. Hyundai officials rushed to clarify this point and let their actions speak louder than words.

The result was Hyundai sells at least 8,000 units of the i10 on an average every month.  Indian small car market leader could not let such a market slip away form its finger.  It launched Maruti  A-star which was designed to rival the base versions of the Hyundai i10 while the Maruti Suzuki Ritz was meant to bit the share from the top end version.  But Hyundai i10 has stood its ground and continues to pack all other hatchbacks to the lower ranks.

Let us take a compare the two cars Hyundai i10 and the Maruti Suzuki Ritz for what they stand.

On the performance, Hyundai i10 comes with two types of powertrains including Kappa engines and Ritz is powered by the new K12M engines. The smaller capacity 1.1Litre engines borrowed from Santro is a very capable power source. The other 1.2Litre Kappa engine is brilliant in performance and fuel economy. It delivers healthy 78.8 bhp while the Ritz with 1.2 Litre engine generates 84 bhp. Both engines offer a peak torque of 11.4 Kgm. When one compares the power to weight and torque to weight parameters, the Ritz is a big loser. The heavy body construction adds a full 170 kgs over what the i10 weights. This means the Hyundai i10 will offer quicker acceleration and sharp curves. Even when the cars are compared during the 0-60 km/h clock- the Hyundai i10 lands a few seconds earlier than Ritz. The Hyundai i10 surges comfortably ahead of the Maruti Suzuki Ritz.

On the ride and handling front, Ritz scores higher points than the i10. Built on the legendary Swift hatchback platform, Maruti Suzuki Ritz sports a taller roofline, a wider front end and a heavy rear end which helps balance the car during sharp curves. Ritz is a notch better than the Hyundai i10 on agile handling parameter. The steering wheel in the Ritz offers good feel of the road and allows driver to feel in control of the vehicle. But drivers who believe that they have to zip through traffic like a cheetah, should go for the Hyundai i10 as it is more agile owing it its lighter weight. At high speeds both cars display awesome stability.

On the design and interiors, Maruti Suzuki Ritz is more likely to rival the Hyundai i20. The tall and bulkier Ritz, comes with larger headlamps and wider front end, which translates to an attention grabbing exterior style. It has an utilitarian appeal complete with all the Maruti Suzuki design cues. The Hyundai i10 has a more contemporary design with pear drop shaped headlamps and grille that exudes power. It has the radical styling (like the swift) which will change the way hatches will look in the near future.

The interiors in Maruti Suzuki Ritz are spacious like the Swift. There is a tachometer integrated into the dashboard and twin dial instrument cluster is visually pleasing. Due to its tall roofline it offers an airy headroom which can accommodate adults over 6 ft tall. The rear seats offer a spacious legroom.  The Hyundai i10 sports a modern feel. The controls on the dash are logically placed. The fine quality of the materials and the clean blend of dual of equipments and styles gives a feel of an upscale car. The in-car entertainment is on of the best in its class. The visibility from the driver’s seat is excellent as the driver get a full forward view. The rear seat can be slightly cramped for large adults.

Overall, Hyundai i10 and the Maruti Suzuki Ritz serve as great family cars.

The new Hyundai Getz

January 20th, 2010
Hyundai
cardekho asked:

The vehicle has impressed the Indian buyers with its tastefully designed interiors and stylish exteriors, managing to successfully establish a market share for itself. Hyundai Getz was launched in India in 2004. Manufactured by Hyundai Motor India, the image of this super-mini car has projected it as the best-suited vehicle for small urban families. The compact car has succeeded in capturing millions of hearts across the world. Getz is the one-stop solution for car lovers who want style and grace in their machine.

The Getz Prime is being touted as the country’s first car that can be called ‘truly global,’ in terms of features that conform to the global standards of performance as well as aesthetics. The Getz, which is sold the most in Europe, has won many accolades in various countries, including the ‘Best Small Car’ in Australia in 2005 and the ‘Transport for London GreenFleet Award’ for the best economy car in 2006. The Getz Prime was launched with Santro Xing’s 1.1L engine instead of 1,341cc engine, but weighs 200 kgs more than the latter.

The base 1.1-litre Getz Prime is available in two trims — GLE and GVS. The 1.3 Getz Prime is also available in three trims - GLS, GLX and GVS and an all new 1.5-liter diesel engine is available with the GVS CRDi variant.

The hatchback body type of Hyundai Getz comes equipped with roomy and plush interiors. There is ample space inside the cabin to ensure that your ride is comfortable. Higher seating arrangement facilitates an easy ingress and egress. The instrument cluster, with a comprehensive audio system, has been integrated neatly into the dashboard. A cup-holder is also provided in the console.

Riding is effortless and comfortable in Hyundai Getz. The front ventilated disc and rear drum brakes provide excellent braking ability. You may use the Anti Lock Braking System (ABS) in emergencies. The steering of the car can be can be adjusted to suit the convenience of the driver. Getz is also equipped with a unique clutch lock feature, which makes ignition remain non-functional until clutch is pressed, reducing jerk starts.

The new Getz Prime is still available with the existing 1.3-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces a liberal 82 bhp of peak power and 116 Nm of maximum torque. However, it has also been launched with the 1.1-litre eRLX engine that is available only in Santro Xing.

Hyundai has modified the 1.1-litre eRLX engine to improve its performance. This engine in the Santro Xing develops 63 bhp of peak power while in the Getz, it offers 66 bhp of power at 5,500 rpm and the peak torque is also a decent 102 Nm at 3,200 rpm. It also provides quick, smooth acceleration and easy motoring, up to 130 km per hour. The recently introduced Getz Prime diesel variant comes more powerful with a 1.5-liter common rail direct injection turbo charged engine. It generates 108 bhp of maximum power at 4000 rpm and 235 Nm of maximum torque at 2750 rpm.

The eRLX still features technologies such as the rotary heard intelligent valve actuator (RHiA), fuel quality immuniser, real-time intelligent ignition and ultra-low friction piston rings. The 1.3-litre engine is aimed at those who want performance and space but do not want to compromise with the looks of the car. The 1.1-litre petrol engine also offers the same amount of space but at a lesser price; its biggest advantage is its cost-effectiveness. It comes with a 5-speed manual transmission which is quiet and dependable. The new 1.5-liter engine is for those who prefer a diesel variant.

January 17th, 2010
Hyundai
seventhyearfalling asked:

I’m thinking of buying a 2002 Hyundai Sonata, except the engine already has 102,000 miles on it. I’m tied up for money and the vehicle itself looks nice. I’m just curious to know how many miles these (not sure if it’s 4 or 6 cyl on this model) engines usually live up to? Thanks!
